Burns Veterinary Supply was established in 1946 on the West Coast by Henry Burns. In 1983, Burns was purchased by The Darby Group, and then merged into Delta Veterinary Supply making it one of the first Distributors serving the entire United States.

The Darby Group is a family owned company serving the dental, medical and veterinary industries. Over the next several years, Burns experienced tremendous growth. It soon became necessary to expand its sales force from 20 to 110 Field Sales Representatives, supported by over 75 Inside Sales Representatives. Burns quickly grew to be one of the most profitable distributors in the industry through the hard work of its dedicated employees. Kim Allen began leading Burns in 1998 as President of the organization. Kim Allen, now President, Commercial Division, will lead the sales and marketing groups of Butler Animal Health Supply
